This year, we are pleased to announce that two lucky participants correctly guessed the exact winning date and time for the Nenana Ice Classic of May 4th, 2026, at 6:58 P.M. Alaska Standard Time!
Winner 1: Joe Dinkins, local barber and owner of Just Haircuts in Fairbanks, has proudly supported the Nenana Ice Classic for many years, and this marks his third win. Joe shared that he plans to set aside his winnings for retirement.
Winner 2: Marie Thies of Fairbanks and her family have been part of this cherished tradition for decades. For years, Marie has entered her father’s favorite Ice Classic times, and she is thrilled that this year those selections proved to be the winning choice. She plans to use her winnings to pay off bills and enjoy some travel.
The 2 winners will split the jackpot of $144,749! That means each winner will receive gross winnings of $72,374.50!
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to both winners on this exciting and well-deserved achievement!
We are sincerely grateful for everyone’s continued participation in and support of this truly unique and special Alaska tradition.
Many may not realize that the Nenana Ice Classic generates its operating funds only once each year during the active ticket sales season from February through April. The proceeds from ticket sales must sustain the organization until the following February. These funds not only provide for the winning jackpot, but also support contributions made within the Nenana community, assistance provided across the state, essential operating expenses, supply costs, and wages for more than 85 employees each year who carefully hand-sort ticket entries. Many of these employees are students working their first job or individuals who may not have other employment opportunities during the rest of the year.
We take great pride in the work behind the Nenana Ice Classic and deeply appreciate everyone who continues to support this longstanding tradition, whether by purchasing a ticket, helping sort entries, or working in the office. Thank you for your loyal support throughout the years and for helping make the 2026 season possible!
